7 Mistakes You Could Be Making In Life Everyday
Mistake No. 1 : Being Lonely
I consider loneliness equivalent to transgression towards one’s own self. If you are not happy and content being in your own company, then you apparently tend to be reliant on external factors for your own joys. Be it your relations, material goods, entertainment sources et al. But in this case you have lost the key to your own personal bliss. And this is where boredom steps in. Because when you’re looking towards someone or something for your own pleasure, then this is not going to last. It will be bounded by limitations as well as pressured with expectations.
Mistake No. 2 : Boredom
This problem has taken most of us unawares, and the tyranny is that we do not understand how often and how much we are virtually affected with boredom. Be it elderly, young or even children, everyone seems to be experiencing being bored every now and then. Becoming bored would mean to be turned off, and thus it implies that we have somehow given our on and off buttons to some auxiliary force, and this is not in our control any more. Only for this reason that we are seeking zeal and pleasure into some external factor, we simply get bored with the monotonous after-effect that later reflects back as boredom.
Mistake No. 3 : Being Glued to A Fixation
My kids never like it when I called their television set as ‘Idiot Box’, no doubt they have this emotional binding with the diversion object ! Just in case there was some modest leisure, it could be comforting for the while, but when you are actually flabbergasted with all the stories, characters and serials; you get so much engrossed that you virtually tend to cut – off . Now the oppression is, although it seems that you are escaped and distant from the sturdy liability of life (it is provisional for sure) , the more you enter and attach to this artificial world, you are all the less aware of the natural charisma and purpose of Human life !
There is nothing wrong in watching television, as this being the most sought – after and available entertainment source nowadays. But what about the television that is continually playing inside? Even though you are watching sensible programs, but it is your essential duty to watch the thoughts that are going within. And many a times the information stored in the subconscious minds may be even more intensifying and involving than any television story. The inner television is playing non-stop twenty-four hours a day, even while we are sleeping. The human mind may be compared to a computer and there is amalgam of thoughts portraying on the inner computer or the inner television screen. I would therefore suggest, watch less of the external television and watch the stories within. This is where your solutions lie, and thus needs for mindful contemplation. Give this a thought here – are you passing time, or are you passing life with this simulated aid?
Mistake No. 4 : Always In The Race
Remember the fable, in the race between the rabbit and the tortoise, in the end the tortoise was the one who actually won. That goes true of every situation that life brings forth. We all seem to be posing as rabbits, trying to win the race. Doesn’t this create unwanted stress and strain? Are we not being rather too pushy with our own selves. Why run, run and run when the expedition essentially needs to be consciously enjoyed. We are all in the journey continuously, unawares of the margin to the final destination. I could think of two main advantages that being a tortoise could bring out to you. One, the turtle breathes slowly, rather very slowly and deliberately, this foregoes the chasing attitude and encourages deep breathing. Thus the animal lives longer life, more steady and more tranquil. Second, the turtle has a shell, a protection cover, that the rabbit does not have. And therefore, as and when there is external stimulus, he has his way inside. This is the situation with the world around us. Although we cannot escape the stimulus, but we can always make ourselves strong inside!
Mistake No. 5 :Talking about Others Than Talking To Them
When I go out for my evening walk, I prefer to be all my myself. And I have a strong reason for this. I tend to use this time for self contemplation. I believe this and understand that the friend in me seeks my company, and I just love being all by myself. The other strong reason that remains at the back of my mind is that I want to keep away purposely from talking about others. And I have witnessed it that more than ninety percent of time, people in company are only discussing others.
Another reason is my ardent passion to connect with Nature. I would not compromise with rejoicing in the lap of mother Nature. For me, connecting with Nature is connecting with God. It is sheer bliss to visualize chirping birds swaying in harmony by the vacant skies, the beautifully setting sun and sometimes concurrently emerging of the moon, the feel of serenity as the fresh air touches you and the flowers portraying their bright colors – all this seems to me enhancing the hope that the Creator has bestowed upon us the ecstasy of just being!
Mistake No. 6: Breathing without Gratitude
Believe it or not, but if you consider this today that your life has not been easy for you, you are surely living your days without surrendering to the bliss of Gratitude. No doubt there are so many problems in our day- to – day lives. Be it the impediment of the inflation, or being troubled with some lifestyle ailment, or over-demanding relationships, or keeping your kids going in the world of cut-throat competition, or insecurity that your job sets in every now and then. All this and even more, we are all fighting stress every single day. You would want to think it over again, then what is there to be grateful for ? Well, give this another consideration and this time with a cool, relaxed mind. There is so much more in our lives to be thankful for ! Just after three days of commencing of the year-long awaited holidays, my son in class sixth, was telling me I’m so bored with life. I asked him then, how can you feel so bored, rather there is so much to be grateful for. As he raised his eyebrows, I tried to put across thoughts about being grateful for the food we eat, or having a house to live in or being blessed with the natural proximity and harmony. But the kids are too smart nowadays, and back came another query. And mom, what if earthquake comes? All I could tell him then was, ‘In that case my child, you have another reason to be grateful right now, the earthquake hasn’t come’!
Mistake No. 7 : Not Letting Go
Long back I read this story. A man desperately prayed to God to be with him in the journey of highs and lows of his life. God agreed to be his escort. Later, as he completed his life’s journey, he noticed that God was surely with him. As his carefully watched his footsteps, there was by and large another pair of footsteps along with. He was sure these footsteps belonged to God. But then, he saw that at places there was only one pair of footsteps, the other one was missing. He recollected that during these periods of time in his life when he was badly affected and would tend to leave his tribulations for God to handle, because at these times he was rather weak and overcome. He was a little surprised and now asked God, that at these times I needed you so much and would leave my fate to you, but how is it that now I see only one pair of footsteps during these episodes. God replied to him that at all such times when you looked out to me, I took hold of you and lifted you in my arms. These footsteps that you see now are only mine. Similar is the case when you hold a little baby in your arms, especially when the child is asleep. Have you felt the trust the little one renders on you then?
If you are not letting go of your troubles and brooding on the same again and again, then by the law of attraction, you are only bringing in more and more troubles into your life. Even worst is the case when you make more people, your kith and kin, to become a part of your anguish. This is because then you are attracting the negativity multiplied even more.
‘Let go and Let God ‘ Simple as that! If you are not letting go, you are not letting God.
