A good digestion goes a long way in determining our health and overall well-being. And it holds true not only for what we eat and drink, but also what we experience, feel and sense, or just about anything we take in from the environment. Choosing the right diet and maintaining a strong digestion is essentially the most needed fuel both for gaining as well as maintaining health and well-being. Ayurveda strongly believes that if our ‘Agni’, i.e., our digestive five is strong, anything that our mind and body are taking in will break down and assimilate just fine, and anything that is not required, will be simply eliminated. This helps us attain the ultimate Ojas, which is Sanskrit term for strength. A poor digestion, on the other hand, only allows the toxins or Ama to get accumulated in our body and bring along an array of health problems such as acidity, bloating, constipation, stomach aches, heartburn and we may even feel fatigued after our meals. Not only this, it also leads to lowered immunity and we are easy target to many other maladies.
