If you are regularly feeling pain in the body, your Vata dosha might be imbalanced and aggravated. You need to reduce the intake of root foods and raw vegetables and instead, drink hot beverages like ginger tea, herbal teas to balance the dryness and stiffness in the body resulting from Vata imbalance. Even ghee (Clarified Butter) and olive oil will help in reducing the impact of increased dryness inside the body. According to Ayurveda, it’s important to eat foods that have a balancing effect on the dominant dosha or that will pacify an aggravated dosha. If you are prone to back pain or joint pain, avoid eating vata-instigating foods such as dry & root foods and raw vegetables. To reduce ama, avoid heavy, fried, or processed foods. Eat lunch like a king and go easy on your evening meals. Drink lots of warm or hot beverages like herbal teas etc. Also you need to avoid cold, iced drinks and chilled food. Ensure a good amount of ghee and olive oil is included in your meals as it helps battle the dryness of Vata dosha. Ayurveda has a long record of healing with the use of herbs and herbal combinations. Herbs are useful agents when it comes to balancing the doshas. Depending on the unique constitutions of a person, Ayurveda suggests customized herbal formulas. Aswagandha, ginger, triphala are essential herbal energetic that help pacify Vata.
