Pacifying Vata dosha or the Air body humor is the key to keeping everything else in balance and Ayurveda is an essential conduit to attaining vata dosha imbalance-free body. Ayurvedic treatments, therapies, diet and lifestyle modifications can be big help in balancing Vata dosha to relieve pain in the body. Panchakarma, the traditional Ayurvedic treatments help in removing the ama impurities that accumulate in the joints and tissues, thus causing pain. Ayurvedic treatments of Panchakarma (specifically Basti) which is Ayurveda’s primary purification and detoxification treatment, provides much relief in removing toxins (Ama) from the joints. Generally when pain is experienced in the body as in the case of joint pains and back pain, both Vata and Kapha doshas get imbalanced. As these Ayurvedic treatments help to balance Agni or the gastric fire, as a result the other imbalanced dosha i.e. Kapha will get balanced. As Vata is balanced, this further allows Kapha to once again function normally and relieves the pain.
