How I Befriended Nature Forever!

Today, I feel close to Nature. When I go out for my evening walk, I prefer to be all by myself. The reason behind this is my ardent passion to connect with Nature. I prefer not to compromise with rejoicing in the lap of Mother Nature. For me, connecting with Nature is like connecting with God. And I do feel that it is sheer bliss to visualize chirping birds swaying in harmony by the vacant skies, the beautifully setting sun and sometimes concurrently emerging of the moon, the feel of serenity as the fresh air touches you and the flowers portraying their bright colours – all this seems to me enhancing the hope that the Creator has bestowed upon us the ecstasy of just being!

Who Is My True Friend?

I remember the time, when I was in junior school; after a fight with my close friend, once I asked my mother, ‘Who is my truest friend?’ And I clearly remember she told me then, “My child, I want you to remember this that Nature is your most genuine friend which is by your side all the day!’ Although at first, her words surprised me, but then on reflecting over what she had said, I realized that she was indeed right.

Nature Is My Friend!

  • the sun always smiles with me, protects me and gives me light;
  • the moon and stars are beautiful and they play with me at night;
  • the lovely birds sing for me,
  • the colourful flowers swing with me
  • and the small animals dance for me.

This perception made me contented and blissful, and since that day I have always felt secure in connecting with nature.

As years went by, my mother has been narrating to me many wisdom sermons. One of which I still remember. She told me that Buddha had once said: “If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change!”

But, Where is Nature?

Another instance that is fresh in my memory is of the day when once again she reconciled my link with nature. Finding me really stressed up because of my exams, she guided me to go out into the backyard and connect with nature. Trusting her ever working ideas, I thought of stepping out only to find that she was wrong. Where in your current world do you get to see more than an inch of natural environment? Thus, greatly confused, I returned with my query “I don’t see much nature out there. Rather, there are only tall buildings near our house.”

I Was Reminded

This was the opportune moment, when she took me with her and reminded me of my bond with Nature, and I understood that Nature had actually never abandoned me but had only disguised itself.

  1. “Can you feel the ground below your feet?” said she. “It is the earth.
  2. And can you see the sky up there
  3. and feel the air touching your skin?
  4. And there is light, so the sun is also around.”
  5. Still not greatly convinced, I asked her where the water was, only to hear that water is there as moisture within one and all.

Thus all the elements of nature were ever connected to us.

I Was At Ease!

This explanation made me feel at ease once again. Now, that I have grown up and find myself enjoying the constant companionship of Nature, I realize that this was the time when she had forever planted in my life the virtue of being in proximity with nature!
