There is a lot of stress on keeping the Agni or the gastric fire invigorated, so as to enjoy the state of natural well-being lifelong. Here are some suggestions that you may follow to keep your Agni (Gastric Fire) invigorated and to get rid of ama as per Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of healing.
  • Setting meal timings basis the most optimum stage of digestive juices. 8 am – 12 noon and 6 pm are the most apt times for eating the primary meals because the digestive juices and fire are most active at that point.
  • Taking short 15 minute walks post meals helps in maintaining the blood glucose level which is effective form of keeping a healthy state of digestive fire.
  • Prescribe yourself peace of mind, restful state of the body and clean/light eating – which is very possible by practicing meditation for 20 minutes in the morning and evening.
  • Limited meal portions plays a very important role in keeping the gastric fire invigorated for life – as the portion of food that we consume can decide its digestion capacity and effectiveness. Any food that is over our abdomen’s capacity can be left undigested giving way to ama and a slow digestive fire for the future.
  • So as to stay clear of the ama build up, bitter, pungent and astringent are flavours that should be focussed on – Fruits and Raw vegetables could also abide by these flavours. Pure ghee, honey and cow’s milk which is in organic form, along with whole grains and spicy herbal teas could do your some favour (and flavour).
  • Good thoughts, positivity and mental contentment act as catalysts in concentrating on awakening Agni.
