Although Arthritis (or osteoarthritis) is the most common type of joint problem in older people and Back pain is a common problem affecting 80% of people at some stage in their lives. Surely the knees, back, legs are those spots where we mostly see the joint is held tight with a hand and there is a grunge on the face of the people who are suffering from the stiffness, inflammation and / or infection in these joints. Ayurveda counsels Dosha imbalance as the reason for joint pains. When there is aggravation and imbalance of the Vata and Kapha doshas, this results into joint pains. When the circulation, nerve impulses and metabolism is aggravated in one’s body resulting in an imbalanced Vyana Vata, it is the sign of undernourishment to the joints because of poor absorption and assimilation of the nutrients from the food owing to the disturbed Vata. Also this imbalance of the Vyana Vata moreover brings about a drying effect on the Shleshaka Kapha that manages the lubrication of the joints.
