My Interview As Ayurveda & Natural Lifestyle Healer And Consultant
Erin Legg: What inspired you to take the path of natural wellness healer?
Dr. Sonica: My endeavour into natural wellness healing is more of the play of chance as well as destiny. Although, being an Indian, these natural healing modalities and experiences exist in our basic roots. These wellbeing norms are passed on from generations to generations and find acceptance and undemanding awareness. All these factors helped me to choose this field of natural wellbeing as healer as well as author.
Erin: Can you please explain what kind of guidance you offer as an Ayurveda and Natural Lifestyle Healer and Consultant?
Dr. Sonica: As Ayurveda and Natural Lifestyle Healer and Consultant, I generally offer guidance and therapy pertaining to the ailment the patient is suffering from, along with needed Ayurvedic medicines, recommendation of everyday regime, as well as fitness training is provided.
At my clinic, I personally take care of pulse examination, thorough discussion with the patient so as to establish the basic prakriti or natural constitution of the individual. Then begins the quest for combating the vikruti with herbs and natural ingredients based on Ayurveda medicines and natural wellness supportive therapies for correcting the dosha imbalance. All through the therapy, proper guidance of lifestyle management—that includes daily diet and activity pattern—is given equivalent significance.

Erin: You are the author of three natural health books. Can you please give a brief description of these books?
Dr. Sonica: The three natural health books that I have authored are Herbal Healers, Home Remedies, and Healing through Ayurveda.
My first book, Herbal Healers, is an attempt to provide the essential information about the daily use herbs and kitchen shelf condiments.
The second book, Home Remedies to Prevent and Cure Common Ailments, focuses on home cures derived from natural ingredients such as fruits, vegetables, and herbs. This comprehensive guide brings together simple treatments which involve no chemicals or side effects, and are inexpensive for a range of ailments—from hair loss to acne, from pains to acidity.
Also, my latest book, Healing through Ayurveda: Tips on Dosha Understanding and Self Care, is all about the play of vatta, pitta, and kapha doshas, and is a guide to help you identify yourself, understand the actions (and reactions), physical and mental characteristics, and consequently balance the imbalance to restore natural well-being for your entire life.
Erin: Besides being an author, you also lead workshops and teach. What topics do you present to your students?
Dr. Sonica: I am also conducting workshops and presentations mainly spreading general awareness on Ayurveda healing and tips on dosha guidance, which is in synchronization with my latest published book Healing through Ayurveda.
These workshops include Ayurveda consultation and guidance as well as conducting and teaching of yoga detox module, incorporating yoga poses, deep breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, hand alignment techniques, acupressure points, massage therapy, self-control techniques and chakra balancing. Healing through Ayurveda workshops focus on how to identify, understand, and take care of yourself, along with attaining lifelong freedom from insecurity of the disease, dependency on medicines and imbalance of mind, body and soul. Other than this, presently I’m also teaching Ayurveda nutrition online with an Ayurveda college [in the United States].
Erin: Through your work as an alternative healing arts practitioner and writer, what’s the key message(s) about health and wellness you like to convey to readers?
Dr. Sonica: Well, as key message I would like to get across: the awareness relating to focusing on your natural well-being and consciously working towards maintaining as well as sustaining this greatest virtue! For this purpose, and also when you may need some extra help, please go in for treatment based on the natural modalities of alternative healing, like Ayurveda, naturopathy, yoga, meditation, etcetera. This is because as we are ‘natural’ beings, our body responds much better and efficiently towards these natural therapies which are a sure aid to restore balance and put the body and mind in harmony with the nature!
Erin: When you are not writing or presenting at natural wellness workshops, what types of activities do you like to do?
Dr. Sonica: I am an ardent lover of nature. So, whenever I get an opportunity, I love to rejoice and rejuvenate in the lap of mother nature! Also, meditation sessions that are a great help to transverse inner realms are always welcome when I can spare the time. And as mother of growing up kids, spending time with family always comes as indispensable boon!
