As and when writing on the niche’ of Spiritual Healing, or even during the workshops on Holistic Healing, one question that I have had to entertain more than any other is ‘How to Meditate’? I generally answer, “You may practice meditation for an hour a day or one minute in an hour. The crux is to detach with the mortal world by all means.”

How to Meditate?
Meditation may be brought about by many wonderful means of self-discipline, yet is has proved adherent comforting and enlightening so as to follow what ancient wisdom has preached. It basically advises to sit upright in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and reminisce with the Soul within, along with effortless mental echoes of affirmative and divine tranquility.

Let Meditation Enhance Your Awareness
You do not need to become a barrier to worldly thoughts, but let them come and let them go. And in the process become aware of your state of mind and thereby only allow positive and peaceful thoughts to flow into the mind. As the skill sets in, you would adept at centering on deep breathing effortlessly. And in some time you become virtually aware of each and every breath that comes into your system and the breathing flow out.

What Ancient Wisdom Conveys
Meditation is regarded as ‘Dhyana’ in the ancient wisdom. It has been stated that while immersing in the process of Meditation, you can focus on Natural beauty (Sthula dhyana), divine harmony (Rupastha dhyana), scintillation between your eyebrows (Jyotirmaya dhyana), feet of the almighty (Padasta dhyana), the seven chakras (Pindasta dhyana), self deep – breathing (Vipashyana dhyana) or on the crown chakra (Rupatita dhyana).

Posture For Meditation
While you may sit relaxed in any comfortable yoga asana (Pose) during the process, I would emphasize here that you need to keep your neck and backbone erect, so at to be able to connect efficiently with divinity. Although, for creating a tranquilizing atmosphere for meditation sessions you may also need to inculcate visual, sensory together with auditory factors. Lighting a candle, fragrant and pleasing aroma or soul stirring soft music and mantras could be of great help.
My Understanding About Meditation
As a seeker, when I have tried to gain Spirituality through the process of Meditation.
Meditation is Not Concentration. Meditation is the Source of Concentration. Whereas concentration is a practice or a mental exercise. Meditation , on the other hand, is a process which is a direct approach to the mind. Meditation is not practice, rather it is a process. It is just as we see around in the Nature, everything is happening at its own, no effort is needed.
The simple process of Meditation does not require focusing, on any thing, rather focusing imparts concentration. Through meditation we automatically gain concentration but through concentration we can never gain meditation. In the Mahabharatha, Arjuna had gained full concentration powers but he still fell prey to the negativeness and tried to escape his duties. His concentration alone could not help him. Finally, Meditation did!
Meditation is not concentration, all techniques are for concentration, meditation is our own basic nature,so have to watch with in directly.
Concentration is automatically gained through meditation as a by product of the process,
Awareness is very important aspect of meditation,it is equally useful both for the extroverts as well as introverts
As per the time period required for a single meditation sitting, it is suggested that minimum time required is one minute per year of one’s age.
