Want Relief From Joint Pains & Inflammation? Try Local Massage With Salai Guggul Tail
We all need strong and healthy joints to move around and indulge in activities we love and live for. However, not all amongst us are as lucky to have joints that support our cause. Joint pain happens to be one of the leading health concerns being faced by people all over the world. While it can affect adults and children alike, females and the elderly are especially susceptible to some or the other kind of issues cropping up with the joint. These could range from arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, gout, septic arthritis and psoriatic arthritis among others. A joint injury could also lead to pain and inflammation around that region, thus resulting in much compromised mobility. You need to be familiar with terms such as torn muscles, pains, sprains, strains, fracture, tendonitis, joint dislocation etc. because in case of joint issues, age and the ache go hand in hand.
Signs and Symptoms
Whatever has been contributing towards the joint pains, there are a few symptoms that all patients suffering from joint pains share. These include deep pain, stiffness, swelling, soreness, warmth around the joint, pain upon walking, etc. The degree, frequency and severity might vary with person to person though.
Addressing Joint Pains
There are some natural remedies which aim at offering relief from joint pain. And these home cures also come to use as and when these are added as adjuvant therapy to the medications when the pain is excruciating or prolonged.
Some precautions we could all take in an attempt to avoid the onset of joint pain, include –
- Taking balanced diet comprising of fruits, veggies and omega 3s,
- Exercising regularly to maintain a healthy weight,
- In case of females, this herbal extract helps normalize ovulation, thus putting them in a better position to conceive.
- Not indulging in smoking, etc.
- Other means of relief include warm or cold compresses, massaging the area using oil or an ointment, etc.
Reaching Out to Mother Nature
If you suffer from joint pain, you are sure to be experiencing that incessant discomfort. But you don’t have to live with it, as with most other health conditions, there is Nature to the rescue. There are various anti inflammatory herbs and plant extracts that have helped offer significant relief. In this article, we shall talk at length about how Boswellia is there to help us.
Boswellia serrata for Joints
Boswellia, an extract obtained from Boswellia serrata plant, is heralded as a promising herb to address various inflammatory conditions, common as well as chronic.
This rich scented, flavoursome resin is also known as Salai Guggul, Shallaki or the Indian Frankincense, although it is also native to Middle East and North Africa. It not only offers relief from the pain and swelling associated with joints, but also improves the joint function. It also supports an increase in the physical ability of our joints, and prevents the loss of cartilage, thus preventing our bones from premature degradation.
The resin type extract obtained from this herb has been used since ages for obtaining relief from various inflammatory issues. Various traditional systems of medication, especially Ayurveda, have been vouching for its therapeutic potential. It has shown excellent anti inflammatory properties, especially among patients of arthritis, IBD, asthma, etc. Even modern science has acknowledged and accepted its efficacy to prevent and treat inflammatory disorders, may be not as a stand-alone means of treatment, but definitely a complimentary one.
Boswellia owes most of its popularity to the presence of boswellic acid, an extremely effective anti inflammatory agent. There are various boswellic acids found in boswellia extract, but Acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid (AKBA) is believed to be the most active one. It works by inhibiting the formation and activity of inflammation causing molecules called leukotrienes.
In fact, the aim of boswellic acids is to inhibit the enzyme called 5-LO from producing the leukotrienes in the first place. Boswellia products are generally rated on the concentration of boswellic acids.
Application of Salai Guggul Oil for Massage
Needless to say, massaging your joints using an effective essential oil not only provides relief from pain but also calms us down and releases stress, both physical and emotional. Well, if you are a patient of joint pains, it does not have to be any other oil, when there’s Salai guggul oil to our rescue.
For immediate, short term relief, a gentle massage using this oil is your best bet. It seeps deep into the skin and thus offers great relief. It also combats various vata disorders in our body, thus balancing our energies.
Besides, it’s warm, woody odour is so comforting, you can totally relax and de-stress for as long as the fragrance stays. No wonder it remains one of the most popular essential oils used in aromatherapy.
However, make sure to dilute it using a carrier oil, such as coconut oil, before applying it to the affected area. If you happen to have a sensitive skin, do try it out on a small part of your skin to see that there’s no allergic reaction.
