As and when we fall ill or lose the natural state of wellness, the ancient Indian Science of Ayurveda strongly believes that it is because of the imbalanced state of either or all of the tridoshas viz. vata, pitta and kapha or the air, fire and phlegm body humors. The Pitta dosha or fire body humor accounts for 40 types of diseases in the human body. Imbalance in the Pitta dosha or the heat body humor causes burning sensation in the body. Some obvious signs are excessive heat, epigastric burning, acidity, excessive thirst, hysteria like symptoms, insomnia and skin ailments.
There are 5 sub-doshas of Pitta dosha which when imbalanced, can further lead to ailments.
Pachaka Pitta Imbalance – Acidity, Indigestion, burning in chest, epigastric region and in stomach
Ranjaka Pitta Imbalance – Gives rise to ailment that affects liver and spleen
Sadhaka Pitta Imbalance – Destroys power to think
Alochaka Pitta Imbalance – Destroys vision
Bhrajaka Pitta Imbalance – Skin diseases and affects the complexion
