We are all stressed, aren’t we? In this sprint of everyday living (sometimes you might feel as exhausted as after your feat on the treadmill!) But yes, stress is surely becoming part and parcel of our being. And this is irrespective of the age, class or sex. Owing to the modern day lifestyles, we are all living undue stress and strain. The stress has engulfed us on all spheres of well-being, be it physical, mental or spiritual.
Stressed? Ayurveda has Solution!
Ayurveda healing and Ayurveda treatments for stress relief provide with relevant solutions both for stress management as well as stress relief.
Stress is NOT a Disease
Let us understand that stress in itself is not a disease, until and unless you let it overcome your physical and mental potential. At the same time, you need to be aware about the factors that are leaving you stressed, and try to evade or be easy with them as much as possible.
Here are a few practical suggestions that you could easily follow and relieve stress with the best possible natural aids!
1. The best technique for de-stressing that I have brought in practice is Meditation.
All you need to do is sit erect in squat pose, close your eyes, take deep breath and simply relax. Let go of the world for some time and be yourself. Feel the stress leaving you, grounding into the earth. And never forget to be grateful for the experience!
2. It is important to keep your mind occupied in creative and fruitful activities. Don’t let it idle, remember empty mind is devil’s workshop?
3. Ayurveda Massages, Shirodhara and Nasal Errhines are wonderful aid for stress relief practiced in most of the Ayurveda Spa Centers. Read about these further.
4. Both over work and lack of mental rest and relaxation adds to stress. Permit yourself to take a chill pill often! 🙂
5. The daily diet intake should be regularized in means of proper timing as well as nutritional balance. fresh juices, fibrous foods, raw green vegetables and garden herbs provide with ample supply of anti-oxidants and resistance booster. There are some conventional and methodological suggestions relating to the art of eating that are mentioned in Ayurveda text. These diet tips need to be consciously interpreted and followed not only for stress relief, but also for our own well-being and self-awareness.

6. A sound mind dwells in a sound body. It is therefore essential to keep the body fit and healthy in order to develop better intellect. A regular exercise schedule or walks in fresh air especially in the early sunrise could do wonders. Yoga Nidra and Shavasana are time-tested Yoga poses that are simply assets for relieving stress.
7. Sound sleep
Sleeping well for six to eight hours is your daily rest requirement for the proper functioning and recharging of your brain powers. Don’t fight sleep, this is your body’s natural hint for timely de-stressing.
8. I would also vouch for Water therapy. This is an imperative healing modality of Naturopathy. When stressed, think water ! Drink more water, enjoy cool tub bath, have your feet immersed in hot water, play with water or dance in the rain, indulge in water sport like swimming. You will surely feel the stress parting.
9. Make a daily work list and try to handle problems one by one, as it would be rather difficult to cope up with the accumulation. This has helped me immensely. Every time I feel stressed, I prefer to jot down the clutter on a piece of paper. And Lo ! my mind is relaxed and afresh !
10. It is equally important to stay involved and seek for counselling whenever required.
11. Communicate with family and friends if you feel you’re building stress. They know you in and out, and do listen with open mind to what they have to offer.
12. There are some Ayurveda herbs that are expressed more rightly as ‘Brain tonics’. Read about these further.

13. These herbs not only help to combat stress, but can also prove quite beneficial to sharpen intellect and increase the mental powers. For example, Ayurveda herbs of Bramhi, Shankpushpi, Ashwagandha etc.
14. Massage of the scalp and soles of the feet with sesame seed oil is also suggested. Bring this in your everyday lifestyle.
15. Cow’s ghee is the clarified butter made from Cow’s milk and is quite beneficial for the brain. It should be included in daily diet. You may also use it as nasal drops or in head massage to relieve your tensed up nerves.

Why do you Need Ayurvedic Treatments for Stress Management?
Ayurveda Dosha Healing and Mental Balance
According to Ayurveda text, the balance of the three doshas or body humors viz. air, fire and phlegm or the Vata, Pitta and Kapha doshas when gets disturbed, tends to manifest itself both in somatic as well as psychic spheres.
•Vitiation of the Vata dosha destroys mental sense and gives rise to grief and infatuation.
•When the Pitta dosha or the fire humor of the body gets aggravated beyond its normal limits, may lead to mental states of fear, lust and grief.
•Similarly, imbalance in Kapha causes lethargy and in-discrimination.
These dosha imbalances disturb both the body as well as the mind. Although the predominant factor in case of mental disturbances is believed to be an increase and imbalance in the two mental states of the brain viz. Rajas and Tamas. These two states are ascribed to Iccha (Desire) and Dwesha (Repulsion). It is believed that when these states of mind tend to cross the limits set by social norms and values; they tend to excite the doshas or the basic humors of the body resulting into degeneration of the brain powers and birth of mental diseases.
